After many years as a very active alumnae group of Sigma Alpha Iota, the Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter was installed as the sixty-fourth alumnae chapter by National Secretary Mrs. D. A. Vloedman of Woodward, OK, on March 23, 1953. Members enjoyed a buffet supper at the home of Ruth Grellinger and then went to the home of Aurelia Ehrnst for the Installation and Program. The National Treasurer, Mrs. George Wood of Milwaukee, also participated in the installation. Performers were Viola Buntrock, Marguerite Voll, Annette DeBoer, Anita Hankwitz and Helen Toussaint. Mrs. Vloedman visited the student chapter of Sigma Epsilon at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music the next day. Greetings were sent from National officers and other alumnae chapters all around the country.
The Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter of SAI continues to be active today with about two dozen members. We are a part of the Epsilon A Province along with the Madison Alumnae Chapter, the student Rho Chapter at UW-Madison, the student Theta Iota Chapter at UW-Platteville, and the student Xi Chapter at Lawrence University in Appleton. We welcome any SAI to our meetings although most of our members live in the greater Milwaukee area. Milwaukee Alumnae Chapter members include leaders in the music community, music educators, composers, and performers. We are united by our common interest in music and in furthering the goals of SAI.
